    Brief Description of Event: As we embark on our theme of “Empowering Family Caregivers Through All Seasons” in 2024, we are proud to announce our 10th Annual Hope Grows Victorian Tea. This signature event raises funds and engages the community in conversation about the importance of mental health and emotional support…a true lifeline for family caregivers!

    This year’s highly anticipated event will welcome more than 200 guests to spend time together for a worthy cause while enjoying a traditional “tea.” The afternoon will include speakers, basket raffles, a silent auction, and the opportunity to hear hopeful stories from family caregivers and their care receivers who have successfully navigated, with the help of Hope Grows, through the challenges of family caregiving.

    Brief Description of Event: Join UPMC For Life and the Allegheny County Area Agency on Aging for a very special free community screening of the documentary "IT'S NOT A BURDEN: The Humor and Heartache of Raising Elderly Parents" (McConomy Auditorium) followed by a Resource Fair (Connan Room) on Saturday June 15th at 2pm.

    IT'S NOT A BURDEN is an intimate, humorous, and heartfelt journey into the stories of adult children navigating the challenges and joys of caring for their aging parents. Featuring filmmaker Michelle Boyaner's complex and tender journey caring for her own parents, the film also provides a glimpse into the lives of twenty other families each with their own diverse backgrounds, unique challenges, and personalities. The heartwarming film explores not only the frustrations and fears, but also the transformative bonds that happen when familial roles are reversed, friends support friends and communities come together, exemplifying our capacity to love.

    The screening with be followed by a special guest moderated panel and Q&A with the filmmakers, families from the film and experts in the senior care arena. An onsite Resource Fair will follow in the Connan Room showcasing organizations, businesses, and providers that serve adult children and their parents to help inform and support them on their complex journey.
