ARTZ Notes: Grateful for Music, for Life, For Each Other with Molly Hicks

Event Registration Link: Register here.
Locations Details: In-person
Name of Venue: Summit Presbyterian
6757 Greene Street, Philadelphia, PA 19119
Date and Time: 05/09/2026 1:30 PM
Brief Description of Event: Join us on May 9th at 1:30 pm (ET) for a special in-person ARTZ Notes program! After you register, we will send you information and instructions.

Join us for an in-person ARTZ Notes program at Summit Presbyterian Church with Molly Hicks, a new ARTZ Notes facilitator!

Join music therapist and singer/songwriter Molly Grace Hicks to explore songs with the theme of gratitude. A practice of gratitude can help lower stress, improve mood, strengthen relationships, and release neurotransmitters that improve mood. Whether obvious or implied, many songs reflect on being thankful for people in our lives, for our resources, for the natural world, and for our own ability to grow. In fact, any song could be connected with gratitude if we start with the premise of being grateful for music itself. During our time together, you may sing some familiar songs that automatically connect to the theme, and enjoy other tunes through a new lens. Over the course of the session, we will also collaborate as a group to create a one-of-a-kind gratitude song!

ARTZ Notes invites you to come together with other participants to listen to music, make your own, and engage with each other and the performers. ARTZ Notes offers music and experiences as diverse as our participants. We are exploring different options including facilitating live performances paired with conversations, interactive improvisation and sing-alongs, and conversations and movement around pre-recorded music of all genres.

Please review the following details about visiting Summit:

Location:

Summit Presbyterian is located at 6757 Greene St, Philadelphia, PA 19119

Street parking is available in on the blocks surrounding Summit.

This event will take place in the second floor parlor space, which is accessible from the street level entrance on Westview Street. The space and entrance are both handicap accessible. Someone from ARTZ will meet you at the door and guide you to the parlor.

ARTZ @ Home

Event Registration Link: Register here.
Locations Details: Virtual
 Virtual URL
Date and Time: 05/20/2026 11:00 AM
Brief Description of Event: Join us May 20th at 11:00 am (ET) for a virtual ARTZ @ Home with Julia and Richard program. After you register, we will send you the Zoom link and instructions.

It is not often that we have the privilege of being invited into the home of avid art collectors to enjoy the pieces in their collection with them. That is exactly what we will be doing in our virtual program “ARTZ @ Home with Julia and Richard.”

Julia Converse Moore and Richard Bartholomew have been much-loved members of the ARTZ Philadelphia community since they participated in their first ARTZ @ The Museum program in 2017. When they first joined us, Julia had been living with a diagnosis of young-onset dementia for a decade. When Julia passed away in May 2020, Richard collaborated with us to develop a fitting way of honoring Julia’s memory and ensuring that one of the brightest lights of our community would continue to shine.

Julia loved looking at art and enjoyed discussions around art – both in her professional life and as an ARTZ Philadelphia program participant. Her last program with us was our first ARTZ-Connect program online, in March 2020. It was fitting that Julia, who had ushered us into a new era of online programming, should have a very special online program in her name.

In “ARTZ @ Home with Julia and Richard,” we will be welcomed into Julia and Richard’s own art collection, perusing and discussing two or three pieces per program, and sometimes pieces from the collections of Julia’s other family members. These will include works by Julia’s great aunt, artist Mary Foote (part of John Singer Sargent’s circle of American friends in France and Italy).

Richard and Julia’s sisters will be with us from time to time, co-hosting the program. Please join us for this very special program.
